Since Darren Dreger reported yesterday that the Oilers might consider a trade of Taylor Hall, there’s been a solid day of speculation about the star winger.

Sean Gentille and Thomas Drance gave lists of teams they think might be a good fit if the Oilers would to trade Hall.

Both Drance and Gentille listed the Lightning and the Islanders as potential destinations, with names like Jonathan Drouin, Ryan Strome, Andrej Sustr and long-time Oiler favorite Griffin Reinhart coming back in return.

Drance also mentions the Columbus Blue Jackets, while Gentille suggests the Los Angeles Kings, Philadelphia Flyers, Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins as possibilities.

Why the hell would we trade Ryan Strome for Hall? Strome is both better and younger than Hall is, and is just breaking out this season. I understand that Hall was a former #1 overall pick, but Strome was a #5 pick just a year later. Pass.

I would trade sustr for hall in a heartbeat. Including Druin would be lunacy. But to be fair I would include Bishop, Morrow and Carle for Hall and their first. They would be losing a potential “generational” talent but gain a franchise goalie and a good deal of veteran presence. If the O’s wanted to throw in NN, too, I would add Flip. A big move with a lot of turn over, but it would benefit both sides.
