Stars Sign Klingberg to Extension

The Dallas Stars have signed defenseman John Klingberg to a seven year, $29.75 million ($4.25 million AAV) contract extension.

Klingberg, 22, had a remarkable freshman campaign, leading all rookie defenseman with 40 points, which included 11 goals, in only 65 games played.

Klingberg was secheduled to become a restricted free agent this off-season.

Oilers Sign Yakupov to Extension

The Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Nail Yakupov to a two-year, $5 million contract extension.

The 21-year-old Russian winger has come under fire for not producing as much as expected thus far in his NHL career, but managed this season to put up 21 points in 34 games following the All-Star break.

The deal doesn’t guarantee Yakupov will be part of Edmonton’s long-term core, but it shows the team has not given up on their former No. 1 pick.

Kings Sign Pearson to Two-Year Deal

The Kings have signed Tanner Pearson to a $2.8 million / 2 year deal.

Pearson, 22, is still five seasons from unrestricted free agency.

Pearson has played in only 42 games this season due to a left fibula injury. He has 12 goals and 4 assists in 2014-15.
