Frank Seravalli discussed a few items in his new Ice Breakers feature at Daily Faceoff:
- He reports that the Blues have been told of several teams for which star winger Vladimir Tarasenko would be willing to be dealt and that the Blues are actively exploring trade options. Tarasenko has two years remaining on his contract at a cap hit of $7.5 million.
- He mentions that the Bruins are believed to have interest in both Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Conor Garland from the Coyotes. He suggests a big variable in trade talks is how much of Ekman-Larsson’s $8.25 million AAV contract the Coyotes are willing to eat.
- He reports the Rangers have finalized their plans to buy-out the last season on Tony DeAngelo’s contract when the buy-out window first opens. Because of DeAngelo’s age, he will be eligible for a reduced buy-out meaning the Rangers will carry cap hits of $383,334 next season and $883,334 in 2022-23.
