The Panthers will buy-out defenseman Keith Yandle today.
CapFriendly outlines the cap charge that Florida will carry due to Yandle’s buy-out:
Yandle will be in an interesting situation as a free agent as he’s a depth defenseman at this point of his career, but he carries a current streak of 922 consecutive games played, second all-time to Doug Jarvis. His new team will need to tread on that situation carefully. Yandle was a healthy scratch for Florida in the playoffs, which didn’t end his regular season streak.
I wonder if the Montreal Canadiens might be a fit for Yandle. They reportedly were after Tony DeAngelo at the trade deadline and landed on Erik Gustavsson for a role that was largely powerplay based. Yandle played junior hockey in Moncton, New Brunswick.
