Islanders sign Tony DeAngelo

The New York Islanders have signed Tony DeAngelo to a 1-year contract worth the league minimum $775,000.

DeAngelo, 29, has played this season with St. Petersburg SKA of the KHL, posting 6 goals and 26 assists in 34 games. He played in the NHL last season with the Hurricanes, putting up 3 goals and 8 assists in 31 games.

The Islanders learned recently that Noah Dobson will be out week-to-week with an injury. The team is hoping DeAngelo can bring enough offense in Dobson’s powerplay spot to make up for his obvious defensive shortcomings.
