Wild re-sign Marco Rossi

The Minnesota Wild have re-signed Marco Rossi to a 3-year contract with a $5 million cap hit.

The Austrian forward will have 1 RFA season remaining after this contract, in which his team can keep his rights by extending a $6 million qualifying offer, as Michael Russo notes.

Rossi, 23, had 24 goals and 36 assists in 82 games for the Wild last season, though he was dropped to the 4th line in the playoffs where his production dipped. The length of time Rossi went without a contract suggests that the team and player have differing opinions about the player’s worth and/or long-term future, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see Rossi finish this contract on another team.
