Golden Knights acquire Rasmus Andersson

The Vegas Golden Knights have acquired Rasmus Andersson from the Calgary Flames in exchange for a 2027 1st round pick, a conditional 2027 2nd round pick, defenseman Zac Whitecloud and 2022 7th round selection Abram Wiebe.

The Flames will be retaining 50% of Andersson’s $4.55 million cap hit this season.

The conditional 2nd round pick will become a future 1st round pick if the Golden Knights win the Stanley Cup in 2026.

There is no contract extension as part of this trade, so Andersson is still scheduled to be a UFA this summer. Vegas is believed to be a preferred destination for the defenseman, so the two sides will presumably work to get a contract extension done.

Andersson, 29, has 10 goals and 20 assists in 48 games for the Flames this season.
