Nick Kypreos suggests that the Los Angeles Kings are a team to watch in connection with Canucks center Elias Pettersson.
Pettersson, 28, is signed through the 2031/32 season at a cap hit of $11.6 million.
The Kings are in need of a long-term center with the trade of Phillip Danault and the impending retirement of Anze Kopitar. What might make a trade difficult to maneuver is that the Canucks would likely prefer a center coming back in a Pettersson trade, as they themselves are depleted at the position beyond Pettersson.
Kypreos also mentions the Red Wings and Hurricanes in connection to Pettersson.
Mike Cranwell of the Fourth Period proposes a trade of Pettersson going to the Hurricanes with Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Bradly Nadeau and Kurban Limatov going back to the Canucks. Pettersson would represent a $6.78 million incremental cap charge over Kotkaniemi.
