The Dallas Stars have re-signed Matt Duchene to a 4-year contract extension with a cap hit of $4.5 million.
Duchene has played the last 2 seasons with the Stars on a pair of 1-year $3 million contracts. He had the last 3 years of his previous 7-year contract with Nashville bought out, and he’s still getting paid from them, including a $2 million signing bonus next month.
Duchene, 34, had 30 goals and 52 assists in 82 games with the Stars last season.
With Duchene signed, Dallas is right to the salary cap with only 18 players under contract, so expect some movement in the coming weeks and months. Jason Robertson has frequently been mentioned in trade rumors, Mat Dumba and Ilya Lyubushkin both have cap hits exceeding $3 million and could also be in play.
