Elliotte Friedman reports that the Carolina Hurricanes have given Dougie Hamilton permission to talk with other teams.
A sign-and-trade would allow Carolina to get some compensation back rather than losing Hamilton as a free agent and also allow the signing team to give Hamilton the eighth contract year that currently only the Canes could.
It’s been reported that the Hurricanes might not be willing to pay what the market might dictate for Hamilton, though Hamilton might prefer to stay all things being equal.
