Canes to terminate contract of Kuznetsov
The Carolina Hurricanes and Evgeny Kuznetsov are mutually terminated the forward’s contract. Both the Hurricanes and the Capitals will get an additional $3.9 million in cap space due from removing their commitments to Kuznetsov. The Capitals retained 50% of Kuznetsov’s $7.8 million cap hit in their trade with the Hurricanes at the trade deadline. Continue reading

The Washington Capitals have acquired Andrew Mangiapane from the Calgary Flames for a 2025 2nd round pick. Mangiapane, 28, is signed through next season at a cap hit of $5.8 million, after which he’ll be a UFA. The winger had 14 goals and 26 assists in 75 games for the Flames last season. Continue reading

Capitals acquire Pierre-Luc Dubois
The Washington Capitals have acquired Pierre-Luc Dubois from the Los Angeles Kings for Darcy Kuemper. Dubois was a big disappointment for the Kings in his first year with the Kings. He’ll bring his $8.5 million cap-hit to Washington through the 2030-31 season. Darcy Kuemper also struggled in 2023-24, eventually losing the net to Charlie Lindgren. Continue reading
