• Hurricanes acquire K’Andre Miller

The Carolina Hurricanes have acquired K’Andre Miller from the New York Rangers in exchange for Scott Morrow, a conditional 1st round pick and a 2nd round pick.

Prior to the trade the Rangers signed Miller to an 8-year contract with a cap hit of $7.5 million. The contract will cover 2 RFA seasons and 6 UFA seasons.

Elliotte Friedman reported that Carolina originally was looking at sending Miller an offer-sheet but the 2 sides settled on a trade instead. A trade allows for the 8th year in Miller’s contract, for Carolina to protect their 1st round pick and allows for the Rangers to get the defense prospect Morrow back in the trade.

Miller, 25, had 7 goals and 20 assists in 74 games for the Rangers last season.

  • Rangers re-sign Will Cuylle

The New York Rangers have signed Will Cuylle to a 2-year contract with a cap hit of $3.9 million.

This takes the oft-rumored offer-sheet off the table for the winger. He will have 2 RFA seasons remaining after this 2-year pact.

Cuylle, 23, had 20 goals and 25 assists in 82 games with the Rangers last season.

  • Ducks sign Mikael Granlund

The Anaheim Ducks have signed Mikael Granlund to a 3-year contract with a cap hit of $7 million.

Granlund started the 2024-25 season with the Sharks before being traded along with Cody Ceci to the Stars in a move that sent a 1st round pick back to the Sharks.

Granlund, 33, had 22 goals and 44 assists in 83 games split between the Sharks and Stars last season.

  • Sharks sign John Klingberg

The San Jose Sharks have signed John Klingberg to a 1-year contract worth $4 million.

The defenseman missed large portions of the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons due to a hip injury, but he returned to the ice with the Oilers late last season. He had 1 goal and 3 assists in 11 games with the Oilers.

  • Sabres sign Alex Lyon

The Buffalo Sabres have signed Alex Lyon to a 2-year contract with a cap hit of $1.5 million.

Lyon will presumably battle with Devon Levi for time in the Sabres crease behind Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen.

Lyon, 32, went 14-9-1 with an 0.896 SV% with the Red Wings last season.

  • Stars sign Radek Faksa

The Dallas Stars have signed Radek Faksa to a 3-year contract with a cap hit of $2 million.

The center played the first 9 seasons of his career with Dallas before playing for the Blues last season.

Faksa, 31, had 5 goals and 10 assists in 70 games for the Blues last season.

  • Islanders sign Jonathan Drouin

The New York Islanders have signed Jonathan Drouin to a 2-year contract with a cap hit of $4 million.

Drouin, 30, had 11 goals and 26 assists in 43 games for the Avalanche last season.

  • Kings sign Dumoulin and Ceci

The Los Angeles Kings have signed defensemen Brian Dumoulin and Cody Ceci.

Dumoulin’s contract is 3 years with a $4 million cap hit. Ceci’s contract is 4 years with a $4.5 million cap hit.

The Kings also signed goaltender Anton Forsberg to a 2-year contract with a cap hit of $2.25 million.
