• Red Wings re-sign Patrick Kane

    The Detroit Red Wings have re-signed Patrick Kane to a 1-year contract. The contract has a base salary of $3 million and potential performance bonuses of $4 million.

    The winger can get $2.5 million in bonuses based on games played and $1.5 million based on Detroit’s finish in the regular season or playoffs.

    Kane, 36, had 21 goals and 38 assists in 70 games for the Red Wings last season.

  • Blue Jackets re-sign Ivan Provorov

    The Columbus Blue Jackets have re-signed Ivan Provorov to a 7-year contract with a cap hit of $8.5 million.

    Provorov, 28, had 7 goals and 26 assists in 82 games for the Blue Jackets last season.

  • Panthers re-sign Brad Marchand

    The Florida Panthers have re-signed Brad Marchand to a 6-year contract with a cap hit in the range of $5.3 million.

    Marchand, 37, had 23 goals and 28 assists in 71 regular season games between the Bruins and Panthers last season. He was 2nd place in Conn Smythe voting as most valuable player in the playoffs, with 20 points in 23 games.

  • Golden Knights acquire Mitch Marner

    The Vegas Golden Knights have acquired Mitch Marner from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for Nicolas Roy.

    The Leafs signed Marner to an 8-year contract extension with a $12 million cap hit prior to the trade.

    Marner, 28, was the top UFA scheduled to hit the market this summer. He had 27 goals and 75 assists in 81 games for the Leafs last season.

    The Leafs get a serviceable forward in return for Marner’s rights in Roy, who is signed for 2 seasons at a cap hit of $3 million.

    There have been rumors that Vegas might have to place Alex Pietrangelo on LTIR, which would open some salary cap flexibility.

  • Oilers re-sign Evan Bouchard

    The Edmonton Oilers have re-signed Evan Bouchard to a 4-year contract with a cap hit of $10.5 million.

    Bouchard was set to be a RFA tomorrow. This contract covers 2 RFA seasons and 2 UFA seasons.

    Bouchard, 25, had 14 goals and 53 assists in 82 games for the Oilers last season.

  • Panthers re-sign Aaron Ekblad

    The Florida Panthers have re-signed Aaron Ekblad to an 8-year contract with a $6.1 million cap hit.

    Ekblad left some money on the table to stay with the Panthers, as Bob McKenzie reports there’s reason to believe he might have gotten $9 million per season on the open market.

    Ekblad, 29, had 3 goals and 30 assists in 56 games with the Panthers last season. He missed 20 games with a PED suspension.

  • Islanders re-sign Alexander Romanov

    The New York Islanders have re-signed Alexander Romanov to a 8-year contract extension with a cap hit of $6.25 million.

    The contract covers 2 RFA seasons and 6 UFA seasons.

    Romanov, 25, had 4 goals and 16 assists in 64 games for the Islanders last season.

  • Maple Leafs acquire Matias Maccelli

    The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired Matias Maccelli from the Utah Mammoth in exchange for a conditional 2027 3rd round pick.

    The pick will become a 2029 2nd round pick if Maccelli gets 51 or more points next season and the Leafs qualify for the playoffs.

    Maccelli, 24, had a big season in 2023-24, getting 57 points in 82 games, but his production fell in 2024-25 as he was faced with a lesser role.

    Maccelli is signed through next season at a cap hit of $3.425 million after which he will have 2 RFA seasons remaining.
