• Hurricanes re-sign Eric Robinson

    The Carolina Hurricanes have re-signed Eric Robinson to a 4-year contract extension with a cap hit of $1.7 million.

    Robinson signed a 1-year, $950,000 contract with the Hurricanes last summer and played well for the Hurricanes on the deal. The 30 year old winger put up 14 goals and 18 assists in 82 games for the club.

    Robinson was eligible to be a UFA on July 1.

  • Jets to sign Jonathan Toews

    The Winnipeg Jets will sign Jonathan Toews to a 1-year contract when he is eligible on July 1.

    The contract will contain bonuses, which is permissible for players over 35 on a 1-year contract. Winnipeg will be able to carry those bonuses on their 2026-27 cap if they cannot fit them under their 2025-26 cap.

    The contract has a base salary of $2 million, with $5 million in potential bonuses, which would be reached if Toews plays 60 regular season games and 50% of the games in each round and the Jets win the Cup. If he plays 60 regular season games and the Jets make the second round of the playoffs, he would be paid $5.5 million.

    Toews, 37, last played with in the NHL in 2022-23 when he put up 15 goals and 16 assists in 53 games with the Blackhawks. He has been out of hockey since then as he recovered from chronic inflammatory response syndrome.

  • Kraken acquire Mason Marchment

    The Seattle Kraken have acquired Mason Marchment from the Dallas Stars in exchange for a 3rd round pick in 2026 and a 4th round pick in 2025.

    Marchment is signed through next season at a cap-hit of $4.5 million. Dallas desperately needed to clear cap space for next season.

  • Stars re-sign Matt Duchene

    The Dallas Stars have re-signed Matt Duchene to a 4-year contract extension with a cap hit of $4.5 million.

    Duchene has played the last 2 seasons with the Stars on a pair of 1-year $3 million contracts. He had the last 3 years of his previous 7-year contract with Nashville bought out, and he’s still getting paid from them, including a $2 million signing bonus next month.

    Duchene, 34, had 30 goals and 52 assists in 82 games with the Stars last season.

    With Duchene signed, Dallas is right to the salary cap with only 18 players under contract, so expect some movement in the coming weeks and months. Jason Robertson has frequently been mentioned in trade rumors, Mat Dumba and Ilya Lyubushkin both have cap hits exceeding $3 million and could also be in play.

  • Senators re-sign Fabian Zetterlund

    The Ottawa Senators have re-signed Fabian Zetterlund to a 3-year contract extension with a cap hit of $4.275 million.

    Zetterlund, 25, was acquired by the Senators from the Sharks in a March trade that saw the Sharks get several pieces, including a 2025 2nd round pick.

    After putting up 36 points in 64 games with the Sharks, Zetterlund had 5 points in 20 regular season games with the Senators and went scoreless in 6 playoff games.

    This contract covers 2 RFA seasons and 1 RFA season.

  • Predators acquire Erik Haula

    The Nashville Predators have acquired Erik Haula from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for Jeremy Hanzel and a 4th round pick.

    Haula, 34, has 1 more season on his current contract, with a cap hit of $3.15 million and a salary of $2.4 million. He had 11 goals and 10 assists in 69 games for the Devils last season.

    Haula previously played for the Predators in the 2020-21 season.

  • Blackhawks re-sign Ryan Donato

    The Chicago Blackhawks have re-signed Ryan Donato to a 4-year contract extension with a cap hit of $4 million.

    Donato, 29, had 31 goals and 31 assists in 80 games with the Blackhawks last season. He was eligible to be a UFA on July 1.

  • Report: Oilers to re-sign Trent Frederic

    The Edmonton Oilers are close to re-signing Trent Frederic to an 8-year contract extension with a cap hit of around $4 million, reports Andy Strickland.

    The Oilers acquired Frederic in a March trade along with Max Jones that sent Maximus Wanner and 2nd and 4th round picks to the Oilers.

    Frederic, 27, played 22 playoff games for the Oilers on their road to the Stanley Cup Finals. He had only 1 goal and 3 assists as his effectiveness was limited recovering from a high-ankle sprain. He is eligible to be a UFA July 1.
