• Canucks acquire Lukas Reichel

The Vancouver Canucks have acquired Lukas Reichel from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a 2027 4th round pick.

Reichel had asked for a trade as he hasn’t been a regular in the Chicago lineup to start this season.

The 22-year old forward had 8 goals and 14 assists in 70 games for the Blackhawks in 2024-25.

  • Canadiens re-sign Lane Hutson

The Montreal Canadiens have re-signed Lane Hutson to an 8-year contract extension with a cap hit of $8.85 million.

The contract will start in 2026-27, as Hutson is still on the final year of his entry-level contract.

The contract pays $55 million of the total $70.8 million in signing bonuses.

  • Golden Knights re-sign Jack Eichel

The Vegas Golden Knights have re-signed Jack Eichel to an 8-year contract extension with a cap-hit of $13.5 million.

Eichel joins Kirill Kaprizov, Connor McDavid and Kyle Connor as elite forwards removing themselves early from the UFA class of 2026.

Eichel, 28, is entering his 5th season with the Golden Knights after a messy divorce from the Sabres. He had 28 goals and 66 assists in 77 games last season.

  • Jets re-sign Kyle Connor

The Winnipeg Jets have re-signed Kyle Connor to an 8-year contract extension with a cap hit of $12 million.

Connor is the third high-profile forward to re-sign, following Kirill Kaprizov last week and Connor McDavid on Monday. Jack Eichel and Artemi Panarin are the last of the elite tier of potential 2026 free agent forwards still unsigned.

Connor, 28, had 41 goals and 56 assists in 82 games with the Jets last season.

  • Oilers re-sign Connor McDavid

The Oilers have re-signed Connor McDavid to a 2-year contract extension with a cap hit of $12.5 million.

The Oilers captain clearly left money on the table to preserve cap space with the goal of aiding the Oilers’ pursuit of the Stanley Cup. McDavid’s cap hit of $12.5 million has no raise from his previous contract signed in 2017, and falls $4.5 million below Kirill Kaprizov’s extension signed last week.

McDavid, 28, has won the Hart trophy in 2016-17, 2020-21 and 2022-23 as the league’s most valuable player. The Oilers have lost in the Stanley Cup Finals in back-to-back years, falling both times to the Florida Panthers.

  • Wild re-sign Kirill Kaprizov

The Minnesota Wild have re-signed Kirill Kaprizov to an 8-year contract extension with a cap-hit of $17 million.

The Wild and Kaprizov were in the news earlier this month when Kaprizov rejected the team’s 8-year offer at $16 million per season. The Wild came back and bumped up their offer and the Kaprizov is now signed to the largest contract in NHL history.

Kaprizov, 28, had 25 goals and 31 assists in 45 games for the Wild last season.

  • Oilers re-sign Vasily Podkolzin

The Edmonton Oilers have re-signed Vasily Podkolzin to a 3-year contract with a cap hit of $2.95 million.

The new contract covers 2 RFA seasons and 1 UFA season.

Podkolzin, 24, had 8 goals and 16 assists in 82 games for the Oilers last season.

  • Flames re-sign Conor Zary

The Calgary Flames have re-signed Conor Zary to a 3-year contract with a cap hit of $3.775 million.

The forward was unsigned for 2 months this summer. He will have 1 RFA season remaining after this 3-year deal.

Zary, 23, had 13 goals and 14 assists in 54 games for the Flames last season.
