Nick Kypreos suggests the return might include Anders Bjork and a 2nd round pick.

Darren Dreger reports that Curtis Lazar is also going to the Bruins.

  • Maple Leafs Acquire Nick Foligno

The Maple Leafs have acquired Columbus Blue Jackets captain Nick Foligno.

Aaron Portzline suggests there’s a good chance that Foligno returns to Columbus as a free agent.

Columbus now owns the 2021 first round picks of Toronto and Tampa Bay, as well as their own.

  • Tampa Bay Closing in on David Savard Trade

The Tampa Bay Lightning are reportedly close on a trade that would see them get David Savard from the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Pierre Lebrun reports that the return could include a first round pick.

  • Avalanche Acquire Devan Dubnyk

The Colorado Avalanche have acquired goaltender Devan Dubnyk from the San Jose Sharks.

The Avalanche needed depth in goal after their backup Pavel Francouz has been out injured all season.

They previously acquired Jonas Johansson from Buffalo, who had a shutout last night, but with injuries to Grubauer and Francouz, the Avalanche had to go to their third goalie in the playoffs last season. They recognize the need for depth at the position.

  • Brandon Montour Traded to Panthers

Brandon Montour has been traded to the Florida Panthers.

Montour has 5 goals and 9 assists in 38 games for the Sabres this season. He will be a UFA this July.

One would have to imagine that this trade will take the Panthers out of the running for David Savard, another right-handed defenseman they’ve been reportedly interested in.

  • Blues Could Be Trade Deadline Sellers

With the St. Louis Blues 2-7-1 in their past 10 games and now sitting five points behind the Arizona Coyotes for the final playoff spot in the West Division, there has been increasing chatter that the team might sell off some players in advance of Monday’s trade deadline.

Jeremy Rutherford of the Athletic takes a look at some players who could be on the move for the Blues.

Rutherford suggests that pending UFAs Mike Hoffman and Tyler Bozak should have their bags packed.

He notes the situation is a little more complicated for fellow pending UFA and career Blue Jaden Schwartz, who can block a trade to 15 teams. Rutherford says contract talks have been slow with Schwartz.

Rutherford also makes note of unhappy defenseman Vince Dunn, who could be moved before the deadline, but could more likely be a summer move.

  • How Will the Leafs Approach the Trade Deadline?

James Mirtle of the Athletic looks at multiple trade options and scenarios that the Toronto Maple Leafs could look at to strengthen their club before the trade deadline.

He proposed trades for forwards Kyle Palmieri, Scott Laughton and Nick Foligno, defenseman Dmitri Kulikov, and goalie Chris Driedger. The proposed costs of the trades never rose above a second round pick and a throw-in prospect. Mirtle did not include defenseman Timothy Liljegren or the Leafs first round pick in any of the proposals, despite both assets being rumored to be in play.

Mirtle goes into a scenario where the Leafs land the trio of Palmieri, Kulikov and Driedger. He notes if all three players come with 50% of their salaries retained and the Leafs send Alex Galchenyuk and Jason Spezza to the taxi squad, they could fit the acquisitions under the cap.

The Leafs should be an interesting team to watch as the April 12 deadline approaches.

  • Lebrun: Devils, Palmieri Still Talking Extension

According to Pierre Lebrun, the Devils and pending UFA Kyle Palmieri are still exploring if have common ground on a contract extension prior to the trade deadline.

If a contract extension can’t be reached, Palmieri would presumably be traded, as the Devils are well out of the playoff picture.

The Islanders have been a team that has been connected to Palmieri in trade rumors.
