Michael Russo of the Athletic reports that the Minnesota Wild offered Jesper Wallstedt and Danila Yurov “as part of a package” for Robert Thomas at last year’s trade deadline.
The Wild had made center their top priority also checked in on Vincent Trocheck at the trade deadline, reportedly offering a package that included Charlie Stramel and a 2027 1st round pick.
The Blues held on to Thomas and he went on tear after the trade deadline. He put up 10 goals and 15 assists in his final 19 games, forming a formidable trio with Jimmy Snuggerud and Dylan Holloway.
Jesper Wallstedt also saw his stock rise after the trade deadline passed, taking over the starting goalie job for the Wild in the playoffs, playing to a 5-5 record with a 0.909 SV%.
Russo suggests the two teams will revisit these trade talks again when new Blues GM Alex Steen takes over the role.
