Because of the deferred payment, Jarvis’ contract will carry a $7.5 million cap hit.
Jarvis, 22, had 33 goals and 34 assists in 81 games with the Hurricanes last season.

Beniers, 21, has 42 goals and 61 assists in 167 career NHL games.
The Montreal Canadiens have acquired Patrik Laine from the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Blue Jackets are trading a 2026 2nd round pick and receiving defenseman Jordan Harris in return.
Laine is signed though 2025-26 at a cap hit of $8.7 million.
