    The Edmonton Oilers are signing Leon Draisaitl to a 8-year contract extension.

    Elliott Friedman reports that the cap hit will be close to $14 million, which is the new high mark in the NHL.

  • Utah signs Robert Bortuzzo

    The Utah Hockey Club have signed Robert Bortuzzo to a 1-year deal.

    Bortuzzo split last season between the Islanders and Blues.

  • Hurricanes re-sign Seth Jarvis

    The Carolina Hurricanes have re-signed Seth Jarvis to a 8-year contract.

    Because of the deferred payment, Jarvis’ contract will carry a $7.5 million cap hit.

    Jarvis, 22, had 33 goals and 34 assists in 81 games with the Hurricanes last season.

  • Senators sign Nick Cousins

    The Ottawa Senators have signed Nick Cousins to a 1-year contract.

    Cousins, 31, had 7 goals and 8 assists in 69 games with the Panthers last season.

  • Sharks acquire Yaroslav Askarov

    The San Jose Sharks have acquired Yaroslav Askarov from the Nashville Predators.

    Askarov had asked for a trade and reportedly was unwilling to report to training camp with the Predators.

    David Edstrom was acquired by the Sharks in the Tomas Hertl trade at the deadline.

  • Penguins acquire Rutger McGroarty

    The Pittsburgh Penguins are acquiring Rutger McGroarty from the Winnipeg Jets.

    McGroarty, 21, is one of the top forward prospects in the game. He had 16 goals and 36 assists in 36 games for the University of Michigan last season. He had indicated an unwillingness to sign the Jets, who drafted him 14th overall in 2022.

    The Seattle Kraken and Matty Beniers are close on a 7-year contract extension, Elliotte Friedman reports.

    Beniers, 21, has 42 goals and 61 assists in 167 career NHL games.

  • Canadiens acquire Patrik Laine

    The Montreal Canadiens have acquired Patrik Laine from the Columbus Blue Jackets.

    The Blue Jackets are trading a 2026 2nd round pick and receiving defenseman Jordan Harris in return.

    Laine is signed though 2025-26 at a cap hit of $8.7 million.
