Suter becomes the 2nd player in NHL history to have his contract bought out multiple times in his career, joining Tony DeAngelo.
The Colorado Avalanche have re-signed Casey Mittelstadt to a 3-year extension.
The Avalanche acquired Mittelstadt from the Sabres at the trade deadline for Bowen Byram.
The contract buys 1 of Mittelstadt’s UFA seasons.
The Winnipeg Jets have re-signed Dylan DeMelo to a 4-year contract extension.
DeMelo, 31, was set to be a UFA next week.
The Ottawa Senators have acquired goaltender Linus Ullmark from the Boston Bruins.
Korpisalo will carry a $3 million cap hit for the Bruins through 2027-28.
Ullmark is set to be a UFA after the 2024-25 season. There had been some rumors that the two sides were discussing a contract extension, so we’ll see if one is forthcoming after the trade.
The Columbus Blue Jackets have re-signed Yegor Chinakhov to a 2-year contract.
Chinakhov, 23, had a strong scoring season in 2023-24, albeit interrupted by injuries. He registered 16 goals and 13 assists in 53 games for the Blue Jackets.
Chinakhov will have 2 RFA seasons remaining after this contract expires.
The Washington Capitals have acquired Pierre-Luc Dubois from the Los Angeles Kings for Darcy Kuemper.
Dubois was a big disappointment for the Kings in his first year with the Kings. He’ll bring his $8.5 million cap-hit to Washington through the 2030-31 season.
Darcy Kuemper also struggled in 2023-24, eventually losing the net to Charlie Lindgren. He carries a $5.25 million cap hit for the next three seasons. Kuemper played for the Kings in 2017-18.
