• Hurricanes Sign Svechnikov to Eight-Year Deal

    The Carolina Hurricanes have signed star forward Andrei Svechnikov to an eight-year deal worth $7.75 million per season.

    The eight-year deal covers four RFA seasons and four UFA seasons for Svechnikov.

    The 21 year old winger had 15 goals and 27 assists in 55 games for the Hurricanes last season.

  • Flyers Sign Derick Brassard

    The Philadelphia Flyers have signed Derick Brassard to a 1-year deal worth $825,000.

    Brassard, who turns 34 next month, had 8 goals and 12 assists in 53 games for the Coyotes last season.

  • Owen Power to Return to Michigan for 2021-22

    Owen Power will be returning to the University of Michigan to play his sophomore season instead of opening the season with the Sabres.

    Power was the first overall pick in last month’s draft.

    Depending on how the seasons line up, Power could potentially sign his entry level contract after the college season ends and play a few games with Buffalo, burning the first year of his entry-level contract.

  • Report: Chara Prefers Eastern Team; Blues Out

    Andy Strickland reports that Zdeno Chara is focusing on Eastern Conference teams, and thus the Blues are not in contention for the 6’9″ defenseman.

    The Florida Panthers are among the Eastern teams that have been connected to Chara, as well as the Washington Capitals, his 2020-21 team.

  • Wild, Fiala Settle Prior to Arbitration

    The Wild and Kevin Fiala have agreed on a contract.

    The deal is presumably a one-year deal.

    Fiala’s arbitration hearing was scheduled for tomorrow.

    Fiala, 25, had 20 goals and 20 assists in 50 games for the Wild last season. He will be a RFA at the completion of this deal.

  • Predators Sign Saros to Four-Year Contract

    The Nashville Predators have signed Juuse Saros to a four-year contract worth $5 million per season.

    Saros, 26, was 21-11-2 with a 2.28 GAA and a 0.927 SV% last season. He finished 6th in Vezina voting and likely deserved to finish higher.

    The contract covers four of Saros’ UFA years.

  • Red Wings, Erne Settle Before Arbitration

    The Detroit Red Wings have signed Adam Erne to a two-year deal worth $2.1 million per season.

    Erne had an arbitration hearing scheduled for Saturday, August 10.

    The two-year agreement covers one RFA season and one UFA season for the 26-year old forward.

  • Canucks Sign Jason Dickinson

    The Canucks have signed Jason Dickinson to a three-year deal with a cap-hit of $2.65 million.

    The Canucks traded for Dickinson prior to the expansion draft, giving the Stars a 3rd round pick in the 2021 draft.

    The deal covers one UFA year for Dickinson.
