• Tyler Johnson Traded to Chicago

    Tyler Johnson has been moved to the Chicago Blackhawks.

    Seabrook’s contract has three years left on it at a cap hit of $6.875 million, but he’s unofficially retired due to injury, so they can place him on LTIR for some salary cap relief.

    Johnson has three years left at a cap-hit of $5 million per season.

  • Report: Buffalo Asking for Smith, Krebs from Vegas

    Ryan Kennedy of the Hockey News reports on the reported asking price Buffalo is asking from Vegas for Jack Eichel.

    The reported deal looks very reasonable compared to other proposed Eichel trades that have circulated.

    Frank Seravalli suggested earlier today that center Phillip Danault might be a fit for Vegas down the middle. We shall see if either he or Eichel materializes for Vegas.

  • Laine Accepts Qualifying Offer

    Patrik Laine has accepted his qualifying offer, reports Elliotte Friedman.

    Laine had 10 goals and 11 assists after being traded to the Blue Jackets. He will be a RFA next off-season as well.

  • Fleury Doesn’t Want Chicago; Pittsburgh a Possbility?

    The Athletic reports that Marc-Andre Fleury that Marc-Andre Fleury does not want to play in Chicago, as he doesn’t want to relocate his family for an unfamiliar location.

    They report that Fleury has desired a return to Pittsburgh for a while, suggesting that a trade to Pittsburgh might re-invigorate him.

    It’s unlikely that Pittsburgh would take on all of Fleury’s $7 million cap hit, but if the Blackhawks, or a third team like the Coyotes or Sabres, ate a portion it could be feasible.

    Fleury reportedly heard about being traded on Twitter.

  • DeAngelo to Sign in Carolina

    Tony DeAngelo is closing in on a deal with Carolina, reports Frank Seravalli.

    This seems to indicate that the Hurricanes expect that Dougie Hamilton will move on from them.

    DeAngelo can be an elite point-producing defenseman, but his work in the defensive zone is porous.

  • Canucks Sign Conor Garland

    The Canucks have signed Conor Garland to a five-year deal.

    Garland was set to be a RFA when free agency opens tomorrow. The deal will cover two RFA seasons and three UFA seasons.
  • Marc-Andre Fleury Traded to Chicago

    Marc-Andre Fleury has been traded to the Chicago Blackhawks.

    Fleury is coming off winning the Vezina for the Golden Knights, but the team was going with Robin Lehner more regularly towards the end of the playoff run. He carries a $7 million cap hit next season.

    Chicago will pair Fleury with Kevin Lankinen in net.

    Bob McKenzie throws the idea that Fleury might contemplate retirement out there, however, as Fleury only wanted to play for Vegas and Chicago was not on his no-trade list.

  • Avalanche, Grubauer Still Talking

    Pierre Lebrun reports that the Avalanche and Philipp Grubauer are making another push to get a contract done before free agency opens.

    Frank Seravalli reported that Colorado’s last offer was 5 years for $5 million per season.

    Grubauer was a Vezina finalist last season. He went 30-9-1 with a 1.95 GAA and a 0.922 SV%.
