• Predators Sign Eric Haula

    Pierre Lebrun reports that the Nashville Predators have signed Eric Haula.

    The contract is for 1 year and $1.75 million.

    Haula set career highs with 29 goals and 56 points in 2017-18 with Vegas. Last season he had 14 goals and 12 assists in 48 games split between Carolina and Florida.

  • Canadiens Sign Michael Frolik

    The Montreal Canadiens have announced they’ve signed Michael Frolik to a 1-year deal worth $750,000.

    Frolik, 32, split last season between the Calgary Flames and the Buffalo Sabres. He had 6 goals and 8 assists in 57 games.

  • Devils Re-Sign Mackenzie Blackwood

    The Devils have re-signed their RFA goalie Mackenzie Blackwood to a 3-year deal worth $2.8 million per season.

    Blackwood will have one season before hitting unrestricted free agency on the expiry of this contract.

    The Devils still have RFA forward Jesper Bratt left to sign.

  • Mikael Granlund Signs With Predators

    Granlund came to the Predators in 2018-19 from Minnesota in exchange for Kevin Fiala. He had 17 goals and 13 assists in 63 games for the Wild last season.

    Andy Strickland reports that the Blues were in the mix for Granlund.

  • Capitals Close to Signing Conor Sheary

    Elliotte Friedman reports the Washington Capitals are close to signing winger Conor Sheary.

    Sheary, 28, started last season with the Sabres before going back to Pittsburgh in a trade deadline move. In 63 games between the Sabres and Penguins, Sheary had 10 goals and 13 assists.

  • Lightning Re-Sign Erik Cernak

    The Lightning have announced they’ve re-signed defenseman Erik Cernak to a 3-year deal worth $2.95 million per season.

    The Lightning currently sit above the league salary cap with RFA Anthony Cirelli still to sign. There have been rumors about trading Alex Killorn or Tyler Johnson to clear salary space. They may also be able to clear some space through long-term injury reserve if Nikita Kucherov’s injury turns out to be serious enough to warrant it.

  • Friedman: Rumor of Johnson for Zetterberg Swap

    On the 31 Thoughts Podcast Elliotte Friedman reports (12:15) on a European rumor of a trade of Tyler Johnson being traded to Detroit for Henrik Zetterberg, who could be placed on long-term injury reserve.

    Johnson cleared waivers in October, so one would have to believe that Tampa Bay would have to add in such a trade.

    Zetterberg has one more season on his contract. He stopped playing in 2018 due to a back injury.

  • Report: Coyotes Close to Signing Drake Caggiula

    According to Arizona sports radio personality John Gambadoro, the Coyotes are close to signing Drake Caggiula.

    Caggiula, 26, had 9 goals and 6 assists last season for Chicago in 40 games played.
