• Lightning Trade Paquette, Coburn to Senators

The Tampa Bay Lightning have made an additional move to gain some space under the salary cap:

Paquette and Coburn have a combined cap hit of $3.35 million. Gaborik and Nilsson will go on the LTIR for Tampa Bay.

Coburn had no-trade protection and apparently agreed to the move to Ottawa.

  • Mike Hoffman Signs Try-Out with Blues

The St. Louis Blues have announced they’ve signed UFA winger Mike Hoffman to a professional try-out.

One of the more high-profile free agents on the market, it is unexpected to see Hoffman commit to attending a camp without a contract in place. The arrangement might be cap maneuvering, as the Blues currently sit above the cap, but will have some flexibility when Alex Steen and Vladimir Tarasenko are placed on the LTIR.

In 69 games with the Panthers last season, Hoffman had 29 goals and 30 assists.

  • Senators Sign Tim Stuetzle to Entry-Level Contract

  • Craig Anderson to Try-Out with Capitals

The Washington Capitals have announced that Craig Anderson will join them on a professional try-out.

Anderson will battle with Vitek Vanecek and Pheonix Copley to win the back-up job with the Capitals. The position opened up when it was announced that Henrik Lundqvist would be unable to play this season.

  • Derek Stepan Traded to Ottawa

The Ottawa Senators have aquired center Derek Stepan from Arizona for a 2021 2nd round pick.

The Senators are moving Columbus’ second round pick. They still have their own and San Jose’s. The pick will be Arizona’s second pick in the first three rounds; their first and third round picks were taken away as punishment for illegal evaluation of draft-eligible players.

Stepan carries a $6.5 million cap-hit, with only $2 million cash payment still owed to him for 2020-21.

  • Blackhawks Sign Carl Soderberg

Darren Dreger reports the Blackhawks have signed Carl Soderberg to a 1-year deal worth $1 million.

Soderberg, 35, had 17 goals and 18 assists in 70 games for the Arizona Coyotes last season. He adds some center depth for the Blackhawks who lost Kirby Dach to an injury and have yet to sign Dylan Strome.

  • Oilers Sign Slater Koekkoek

The Oilers have signed LD Slater Koekkoek, reports Darren Dreger.

The Oilers have been looking for left-side help on their defense since it was announced that Oscar Klefbom would miss the entire season with an injury.
