Derick Brassard and the Arizona Coyotes are reportedly close on a 1-year deal.
Brassard has bounced around the league in the past few years. He had 10 goals and 22 assists in 66 games with the Islanders last season.
The Montreal Canadiens have signed Corey Perry to a 1-year, $750,000 contract.
After playing the first 14 seasons of his career in Anaheim, Perry played last season with Dallas, ending the season with a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals. He had 5 goals and 16 assists in 57 games for the Stars in 2019-20.
The St. Louis Blues have announced they’ve signed UFA winger Mike Hoffman to a professional try-out.
One of the more high-profile free agents on the market, it is unexpected to see Hoffman commit to attending a camp without a contract in place. The arrangement might be cap maneuvering, as the Blues currently sit above the cap, but will have some flexibility when Alex Steen and Vladimir Tarasenko are placed on the LTIR.
In 69 games with the Panthers last season, Hoffman had 29 goals and 30 assists.
The Senators have signed 3rd overall pick Tim Stuetzle to an entry-level contract.
Stuetzle is currently playing at the World Junior Championships and will join the Senators when his German team finishes play there.
The Washington Capitals have announced that Craig Anderson will join them on a professional try-out.
Anderson will battle with Vitek Vanecek and Pheonix Copley to win the back-up job with the Capitals. The position opened up when it was announced that Henrik Lundqvist would be unable to play this season.
The Ottawa Senators have aquired center Derek Stepan from Arizona for a 2021 2nd round pick.
The Senators are moving Columbus’ second round pick. They still have their own and San Jose’s. The pick will be Arizona’s second pick in the first three rounds; their first and third round picks were taken away as punishment for illegal evaluation of draft-eligible players.
Stepan carries a $6.5 million cap-hit, with only $2 million cash payment still owed to him for 2020-21.
