Rick Dhaliwal of TSN 1040 reports that the Canucks have checked in on UFA Sami Vatanen.
With Chis Tanev leaving in free agency, the Canucks have only Tyler Myers as a right-handed shooting defenseman, so it follows that they could be in on Vatanen. They have also been tied to Travis Hamonic.
It look like contract negotiations won’t prevent Vince Dunn from being on-time for St. Louis Blues camp, reports Andy Strickland.
Dunn became a restricted free agent without arbitration rights when free agency opened. He is four seasons away from unrestricted free agency.
RFA Jack Roslovic won’t be attending training camp with the Jets without a new contract.
Roslovic, the Jets’ 25th overall pick in 2015, hasn’t been able to grab a significant role with the Jets so far into his young career. In 71 games with the Jets in 2019-20, he had 12 goals and 17 assists.
The Buffalo Sabres will have Riley Sheahan in training camp on a try-out.
Sheahan, 29, had 8 goals and 7 assists in 66 games with the Edmonton Oilers last season.
The Edmonton Oilers have re-signed Ethan Bear to a 2-year deal with a $2 million AAV.
Bear had 5 goals and 16 assists in 71 games for the Oilers last season. He will have one more RFA season when this 2-year deal is up.
The Los Angeles Kings will be adding Andreas Athanasiou on a 1-year deal reports Elliotte Friedman.
Athanasiou became an unrestricted free agent after the Oilers declined to tender him a qualifying offer.
Derick Brassard and the Arizona Coyotes are reportedly close on a 1-year deal.
Brassard has bounced around the league in the past few years. He had 10 goals and 22 assists in 66 games with the Islanders last season.
The Montreal Canadiens have signed Corey Perry to a 1-year, $750,000 contract.
After playing the first 14 seasons of his career in Anaheim, Perry played last season with Dallas, ending the season with a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals. He had 5 goals and 16 assists in 57 games for the Stars in 2019-20.
