  • Mike Hoffman Signs Try-Out with Blues

The St. Louis Blues have announced they’ve signed UFA winger Mike Hoffman to a professional try-out.

One of the more high-profile free agents on the market, it is unexpected to see Hoffman commit to attending a camp without a contract in place. The arrangement might be cap maneuvering, as the Blues currently sit above the cap, but will have some flexibility when Alex Steen and Vladimir Tarasenko are placed on the LTIR.

In 69 games with the Panthers last season, Hoffman had 29 goals and 30 assists.

  • Senators Sign Tim Stuetzle to Entry-Level Contract

  • Derek Stepan Traded to Ottawa

The Ottawa Senators have aquired center Derek Stepan from Arizona for a 2021 2nd round pick.

The Senators are moving Columbus’ second round pick. They still have their own and San Jose’s. The pick will be Arizona’s second pick in the first three rounds; their first and third round picks were taken away as punishment for illegal evaluation of draft-eligible players.

Stepan carries a $6.5 million cap-hit, with only $2 million cash payment still owed to him for 2020-21.
