• Ducks re-sign Frank Vatrano

    The Anaheim Ducks have re-signed Frank Vatrano to a 3-year contract extension.

    This isn’t the first NHL contract we’ve seen with salary deferral to reduce the cap hit of the contract, but it is the first contract to use it to this extent. Vatrano’s cap hit will be $4.57 million instead of $6 million due to deferring half the contract to the period between 2035 and 2044.

  • Bruins re-sign Mark Kastelic

    The Boston Bruins have re-signed Mark Kastelic to a 3-year contract extension.

    Kastelic, 25, was acquired from the Senators in the trade that sent them Linus Ullmark. This contract covers 1 RFA season and 2 UFA seasons.

    The Toronto Maple Leafs have re-signed Philippe Myers to a 2-year contract extension.

    Myers, 27, has played in 11 games for the Leafs this season and has registered 2 assists.

  • Stars re-sign Oskar Back

    The Dallas Stars have re-signed Oskar Back to a 2-year contract extension with a cap hit of $825,000.

    Back, 24, has been a regular for the Stars this season putting up 1 goal and 8 assists in 31 games. He will be eligible for unrestricted free agency at the completion of his new contract.

  • Penguins waive Jesse Puljujarvi

    The Pittsburgh Penguins have placed Jesse Puljujarvi on waivers.

    Puljujarvi, 26, had 3 goals and 5 assists in 21 games for the Penguins this season. He is scheduled to be a UFA after the 2024-25 season.

  • Avalanche re-sign Mackenzie Blackwood

    The Colorado Avalanche have re-signed Mackenzie Blackwood to a 5-year contract extension.

    The Avalanche acquired Blackwood earlier this month in a trade that sent Alexandar Georgiev to the Sharks. Blackwood, 28, is 3-1-0 with a 0.931 SV% in his limited sample with the Avalanche.
