The defenseman was traded from the Rangers to the Avalanche in a trade that sent a 2nd round pick to the Rangers in March.
Lindgren, 27, had 4 goals and 18 assists in 72 games between the Rangers and Avalanche last season.
The Montreal Canadiens have signed goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen.
Kahkonen will presumably battle with Jakub Dobes for the role as backup to Sam Montembeault.
Kahkonen played strictly in the AHL last season.

He will join Samuel Ersson and Ivan Fedotov in the Philadelphia crease.
Vladar, 27, went 12-11-6 with an 0.898 SV% with the Flames last season.
