The Columbus Blue Jackets have re-signed Zach Werenski to a six-year contract.

Big deal for Zach Werenski: He signs a six-year extension with #CBJ carrying a $9.583M AAV.

    — Chris Johnston (@reporterchris) July 30, 2021

Werenski, like the recently-departed Seth Jones, had been rumored to be less than eager to re-sign in Columbus long-term. Perhaps that’s reflected in the price of the contract. Werenski could have walked as a UFA after the 2022-23 season.

The contract covers one RFA year and five UFA years.
